Implants allow the creation of fixed prostheses, giving stability to the teeth without making any movement during meals.
Dental implants are very resistant and can last for many years.
They improve the long-term health of teeth, preserving the surrounding bone, slowing down the resorption process in relation to edentulism
Dental implants give the sensation of having one’s teeth again, both for the prosthetic support and by giving tone to the lips and facial contour, recreating a good functional and aesthetic situation.
A dental implant is a device often resembling a “screw” that is inserted into the jaw to support a prosthetic tooth or group of teeth; requires “acceptance” by the recipient tissue through a process called osteointegration. The implants that are used in our dental practice are made of titanium (the same metal that has been successfully used in hip prosthetics).
Implantology is much less painful than the collective imagination, local anesthesia allows the tissues surrounding the intervention area to be “asleep”, consequently sensitivity is temporarily decreased; However, it must be taken into consideration that following the manoeuvres, once the anesthesia wears off, there may be some slight discomfort. This varies from patient to patient, but in most cases only requires mild pain relief for a few days.
Implant therapy is performed in several phases and always following a correct clinical and radiological diagnosis. The first phase consists in the surgical positioning of the dental implant in the bone portion chosen during the diagnosis phase. It is then left to “rest” for a variable period of time, normally 3-4 months are waited for the bone to adhere correctly to the inserted prosthesis, integration and good “stability” are the basis of the success of the therapy. In most cases it is positioned below the gums and only after obtaining correct osteointegration will the implants be “discovered” with the aim of making the gum regrow all around and recreating a correct aesthetic-functional compromise. After about 2 weeks you will have the gums perfectly healed and with the desired shape so that you can take a precision impression to create the ceramic dental element.
